The Plott Hound is a large scent hound, originally bred for hunting bear. The Plott is first and foremost a hunting dog, he’s happy to spend the rest of his time being a protective and affectionate family dog. He generally gets along well with children. It is streamlined and agile, yet powerful with great endurance. This is an extremely courageous breed, and, as befitting any good hound, it can be headstrong. Plotts can be wary of strangers, but generally warm up quickly.
