The Irish Water Spaniel is a breed of dog that is the largest and one of the oldest of spaniels. The Irish Water Spaniel is essentially an active, willing and energetic companion. Its keen sense of working as a team makes it a relatively easy dog to train and discipline. Irish Water Spaniels find it easy to adapt to most forms of shooting, hunting, often pointing and willingly retrieving, even in heavy cover. His alert nature makes him an excellent watchdog, but he is not known for being a barker.
